Girlfriend Remote
Here's where my obsession with novelty design all started, I "invented" the Takischitt Girlfriend Remote one Christmas as a joke present for a mate with an annoyingly talkative girlfriend. She loved it! And wanted one, and so the Takischitt Boyfriend Remote Control was born too.
A worldwide best selling novelty it became a phenomenum which was reviewed and featured in many publications both on and offline plus a couple of radio and tv shows, including the Sun, Loaded and the Johnny Walker afternoon show on BBC radio 2. |

Here's a photo of the original Girlfriend Remote Control; Note the word "New!!!" which, along with the radial remote lines, was printed onto acetate, which I did pre home transparency printing with old fashioned Letraset stencils. Hands up who remembers Letraset? Gone is the original booklet which I tucked into the back, behind the remote control.
This concept alerted me to the possibilities which packaging alone could bring to a product, changing it's concept and imbuing it with comic potential.

With many years in the gift industry I am aware of the constraints. I have a lot of experience getting round production problems like remote printing in China for example, which can present serious difficulties if you are not use to distance production.
Companies who've stocked and sold my products: Harrods, Bentalls, WH Smith, Woolworths, New Look, Virgin, Our Price (as was), HMV, and many other independent and regional high street retailers worldwide.
My creativity is very market orientated, that is to say I am very aware of the impact design can make to the bottom line, and can consult with you providing many ideas to save money in production but still retain the spirit of the design. However my biggest skill is making the joke funny, making people laugh makes money and the bigger they laugh the more they spend. Why employ anyone other than a professional comedian who is also a designer?
